-| Turkey v.2.002 |-
I am Thankful... That the bet[s] I lost did not come with the most embarassing payoffs.
I heard somewhere that vacation was when you go away and don't evah come back. I wish I could do that...[yes, I do know where it came from, please don't throw in a million gump quotes].
I have never packed so much relaxation and catching up into such a short time span.
I left early, early Wednesday morning, The check in at the airport went with extreme smoothness. [I was surprised at that]. The procedure of getting the rental car was okay, trying to get out of the area and on the road to go meet up with Tim was a bit of a hassle, since the directions I had been given from the rental car people sucked. This guy neglected to say go through a light then turn right at the next light - so I ended up going in a huge circle. [grin].
Once I met picked Tim up we hit the road and headed out to our final destination. By this time I had been awake for thirty-seven hours. Finally, I started getting tired. [up to this point I was not tired at all.] Since we had my daughter with us, we decided to stop halfway there and get some sleep.
Driving around everywhere business frustrated me, but everyone else seems to think it was a grand idea. To me, it would have made more sense for Tim to drive to pick me and my daughter up at the airport and then drive to Brendan's from there. I don't know why the arrangements were made to do it the other way -- but I guess it really does not matter at this point.
We eventually made our way to Brendan and Cathy's Thursday around 1 pm. We spent some time visiting and drinking [beer, wine or whatever applies.] I was starving at this point and ready for that turkey. Somebody brought a really nice Cabernet and I had two glasses, and the dog knocked the third onto the nice light-oatmeal colored carpet in Cathy's newly decorated living room. I felt like it was my fault, but they insisted that their dog is always doing that. [If I had known this I never would have placed the glass on the coffee table.]
Dinner was beyond excellent. There was so much food that I had to make two trips just to try some of everything. After everyone finished eating and the football games had ended some of the other guests departed and eventually we all turned in for the night.
The outcome of the bets:
New Eng. vs. Detroit - I Lost [$40]
Wash. vs. Dallas - I also Lost. [dignity bet I had to fill his truck with gas wearing a dress.]
Chicag. vs. Green Bay - I Won [$60]
Miami Vs. Buffalo - I Won. [$20 + dignity bet...Brendan had to dress like a Mime to go to the bar.]
Seattle vs. Frisco - I Won. [$25] We did not watch every game, but we did follow scores. I did not participate in any other betting.
We spent the next two days relaxing and visiting. We got a tour of the area they live in and met more of their friends. Saturday night we visited Bruce and Lewis's apartment and had dinner - vegetarian chili dogs. Not too shabby... Tim sliced up the Cayanne peppers and he and I were eating them raw - They were not as hot as I expected them to be, and they spiced up the meatless chili nicely. After dinner, we sat around playing guitar and drinking beer. I quickly realized I am badly out of practice - I gave up and listened to them instead.
Sunday we went out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant and I ate too much again. I can't help that I have no self control when it comes to cheese enchiladas.
