  • Down with the Sickness

April 29, 2010 | Filed Under Life, Product Pushing, Sickness | No Comments

I woke up this morning, feeling fine, other than being a little bit tired; which is not so unordinary for me.

As the day wore on, I noticed a sensation at the back of my throat that I recognized as the tell-tale sign of something wicked approaching. Around four in the afternoon, the headache made its appearance, while the “sore” throat lingered.

I came home from work, planted my ass on the couch, and attempted to do some work on the site. I got a few more posts upgraded and links fixed, but found that I was having a hard time concentrating with this “oh crap this isn’t going to be good” sensation looming over my head. I slept for roughly two hours, woke up, and did a bit more on the website. I then showered, and drank (more) water.

Right now, I am considering heating the water kettle on the stove and dropping an Airborne into it. While there is quite a bit of second -thought on the validity of the claims this product makes, I have found it to be quite helpful in easing the symptoms of a LOOMING ICK.

It is very rare that I get sick, and when I do, it typically only takes a couple of days before I feel like myself again. I am hoping that I can knock this sickness on its ass, as I am usually able to do, but it has been so long since I’ve even been sick that I am currently questioning my immune system’s ability. It is either out of practice, (say, if I simply haven’t been EXPOSED to anything vile), OR it has worked so well that I have not been sick in over a year.

I voted (one vote total, one vote for, nobody around to oppose) and now have an Airborne fizzing away in my BatMug. Whatever “IT” is, It’s Got Me.

    Organizing Chaos

April 27, 2010 | Filed Under My Site | No Comments

What, did you think I forgot about you? (Shame, shame, you know I’d never do that.)

I finally got (most of ) the site moved and working… there are some links within posts that still need to be done (they link to the old blogger archives instead of the same post moved to WordPress), and there are other miscellaneous links and images not quite behaving as they should.

I’ve spent a lot of time working on fixing all of this stuff — and for those of you that are trying to read the old stuff — I appreciate your patience while I fix it.

While categorizing the old posts, and fixing the “missing titles” for them, I have had to re-read many of them in order to determine in which category they fit best. (This takes time).

Anyway, I am about 45% (I GUESS) done with the categories. After that I have to fix how the Category list displays (or at least whether or not I am going to display it at all?)

Work is … work. Unfortunately, I have not done much in the way of “outside the house” other than work, so I have nothing to post about at the moment. (Hopefully this will change very soon.)

    Moving Status!

Ok, the posts all made it (safely this time) to WordPress… Which means they are at least here. (I lost the 3 most recent posts, which were made on WordPress when I thought I was done the last time… and I will probably not be able to retrieve them completely.)

Links within posts probably will not work properly (I have to update all of these manually –which will take a bit of time.)

I will be working on small things [line spacing, and getting other tieems (side bar arrangement, categories) and of course I have to get all the little fun things back in the sidebar; like the Wordalizer]. I also have to remember where it was in the CSS that is making the “too large” space between paragraphs… I will do all of this as time permits and hope you might poke around and read some of the old stuff in the mean time.

It will all be back soon — in the mean time, let me know if you notice anything being “out of whack”.

    Hey, BILL–

I got them to import (thanks for offering to help).

Once i get the color / theme crap set, I will publish it all to the main index and be (done).

I still have to fix the image links – but that should resolve with the publishing to the main index page. (I hope). :D

Thanks again, talk to you soon —

    Welcome (to the new) Home

April 18, 2010 | Filed Under My Site | No Comments

Once upon a time, I started writing. I did this using a simple text editor on my computer, which at that time was a Pentium II (or something like that), running Windows ME (which was soon replaced by Windows XP). The writing was frequent and I had many files (and much more to say).

After a while, I started posting stories to the internet (hosted on some such free hosting site I forget the name of at this point.) Eventually, I purchased the rights to a domain name, and it took off from there.

Then, I discovered “Blogger” which made frequent page changes (as I was changing the stories nearly daily). I stuck with “Blogger” for about SEVEN YEARS. Then they decided to basically eliminate people like myself with our own domains that know how to actually write HTML and CSS and whatnot.

So, I set out to MOVE the entire weblog — which in itself has been a chore (from hell). Something that should be SO simple — is not so simple. I just don’t get it.

I’m at it again, trying to import my blood, sweat and tears (that is SAVE THEM) because it is my (second half of my) life story.

I have chosen WordPress as my “new home”, and in order to relocate
By the time I get through all the editing process, this won’t look TOO different than it did before.
